Timothy J. Brown of Wolverine Lake, formerly of Yale, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at the age of 66. His passing has brought deep sorrow to his family, friends, and the many members of the community who knew and admired him. Remembered for his kindness, dedication, and strong ties to his hometown, Tim leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.
Born on December 10, 1959, in Port Huron, Michigan, Tim was the son of Howard and Pauline Brown. He grew up in Yale, a town that remained close to his heart throughout his life. It was in Yale that he built lasting friendships, established his career, and became a well-known and respected member of the community.
In October of 1981, Tim married Janet Norton at the Yale United Methodist Church. Their marriage was a strong and loving partnership that spanned decades. Together, they raised two daughters, Jenna and Kelsey, who were the center of Tim’s world. As a husband and father, he was devoted, supportive, and deeply proud of his family.
From a young age, Tim displayed an entrepreneurial spirit. He began by owning a local party store with his brother, gaining valuable experience and building connections within the community. His ambition eventually led him to establish his own insurance business, The Brown Agency, located in downtown Yale. Through his business, he served countless individuals and families, earning a reputation for honesty, reliability, and genuine care for his clients.
Tim’s commitment to Yale extended far beyond his professional life. He served as President of the Chamber of Commerce, where he played an active role in supporting local businesses and fostering community growth. He also dedicated time to coaching and sponsoring youth baseball, helping to create opportunities and lasting memories for young athletes in the area.
One of his most notable contributions was his involvement in the town’s beloved bologna festival. For over 25 years, Tim worked behind the scenes to organize and support the festival’s fireworks display, an event that brought joy to countless families. His dedication to community traditions and celebrations reflected his deep love for the town he called home.
A lifelong and active member of Yale United Methodist Church, Tim was known affectionately as the “soundman.” Every Sunday, he ensured that the music played loud and clear, contributing to the spirit and energy of the church services. His presence at the church was constant, and his contributions were appreciated by fellow members and visitors alike.
While Tim accomplished many things throughout his life, it was who he was as a person that made him truly special. He was known for his kindness, integrity, and strong work ethic. He had a great sense of humor and a passion for music that added joy to the lives of those around him. His ability to connect with people and make them feel valued left a lasting impression.
Family was at the center of everything Tim did. He took immense pride in his daughters and later found great joy in his role as a grandfather. The love he had for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and it is a love that will continue to be remembered and cherished.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Yale United Methodist Church on March 23, 2026, where family, friends, and community members will gather to honor and remember Timothy J. Brown. It will be a time to reflect on his life, share memories, and celebrate the many ways he touched the lives of others.
Though his passing leaves a significant void, Tim’s legacy lives on through his family, his work, and the community he helped shape. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a man whose life was defined by compassion, service, and dedication.
